Fly to the Flinders Ranges and 4WD
Relaxing Day Trip of Discovery
Fly to the Hawker airstrip, right in the heart of the Flinders Ranges. Enjoy a 4WD tour of the Wilpena Pound region driving in the picturesque tree-lined Bunyeroo Gorge then marvel at the changing colour as you travel through the ‘corridor in time’ at Brachina Gorge. You will be personally guided with an expert of the region through the habitats of Emus, Kangaroos and Reptiles where you may also spot the rare and beautiful Yellow Footed Rock Wallabies. See the earliest animal fossils (630-million-years-old) in the world. Many species of birds also inhabit this region, ranging from brightly coloured Ringed Neck Parrots through to the magnificent Wedge-tail eagle, Australia’s largest bird of prey. Enjoy lunch at the famous Prairie Hotel. This historic Outback pub situated along the original Old Ghan Railway Line has an international reputation for its cuisine, including its famous Feral Menu (other meals available). After lunch, we continue the tour through the Moralana Scenic Drive. From here you will have amazing views of the southern side of Wilpena Pound on your left and unforgettable views of the Elder Range on your right. This will take you back to the Hawker airstrip to fly you back to Adelaide. An easy and relaxing way to experience the very best!
