A Feast for the Senses

Day 1

Travel to Australia’s premium wine producing region – the Barossa Valley arriving at the Jacob’s Creek Visitor Centre. Continue your journey through the patchwork of vineyards, and observe the vernacular architecture of the early German settlements. Steeped in history, Saltram Estate offers a warm friendly atmosphere for you to enjoy your lunch. Select from gourmet tasting platters served with specifically selected Saltram wines. Take a walk through the vineyards at Peter Lehmanns and learn about the importance of the seasons in the wine making process. Travel onwards to the Clare Valley famous for its Riesling and stop off at Sevenhill Cellars, where will take a guided tour of the property with Jesuit Brother John May and see the underground cellars, incredible church and crypt and retreat house.


Day 2

This morning the legendary lilac haze of the Flinders Ranges, looms ever closer in the distance. You are now in the habitat of Australia's famous wildlife - not only kangaroos and emus live here in abundance, but also many species of birds and reptiles. The Flinders Ranges is home to a vast number of native animals and birds, which abound amongst the gum trees and on the steep, ragged slopes of the gorges. Visit Arkaroo Rock and other significant indigenous art locations. The paintings at these sites are commonly dated around 6000 years old.


Day 3

Early morning there is an opportunity to take an optional scenic flight over the Wilpena Pound landscape before breakfast. The morning journey then takes you through the Bunyeroo, Brachina and Parachilna Gorges, over hills and ridges, along riverbeds and through gullies. Lunch is at the historic Prairie Hotel an outback pub situated along the original Old Ghan Railway Line with an international reputation for its cuisine, in particular, its feral food menu including kangaroo and emu.

The journey back to Adelaide gives you the time to relax and unwind before being delivered to your hotel door.
